Having surf photo’s taken by a skilled photographer is a great experience, most surfers dont have many – if any – shots of them in the water, but all wish they did. A good surf photo lets you bring the stoke of the water to work, home, computer desktops or anywhere else you can put the image. All surfers should have their surfing professionally documented at least once.
Whats the deal? Before we head out on your planned surf session we will have a chat and assess all the local break options and where you may prefer to surf. Its more than fine to call some friends along for the trip as its often more fun for you in the water with your mates and the cost can be shared also. The photography session usually lasts 1 1/2 hrs or more, depending on the surf and how many waves you catch. Longer sessions can be arranged if you like at additional cost if the waves are particularly good and you want to stay a lot longer.
When? Photo’s always look better early morning, with a nice sunrise, so anytime after dawn is best, but we can shoot at any time of the day. If it’s 5 foot and offshore and the points are lining up, we will shoot all day
Where? We shoot photo’s anywhere from The Spit to Cabarita Beach. We can organise to go further to Byron Bay and Lennox Head for an additional fee. (callout fee is non refundable for Byron and Lennox)
What kind of surf? The photos will only ever be as good as the surf. The better the surf the better the photos. Also having your mates in the water can add an element of fun that makes everyone surf better and relax a bit more. Ideally you want to have offshore winds and a nice early start to get good morning light.
What does it cost? The call out fee is $70. This only applies if we agree to go ahead with the shoot after checking the surf. If we meet and the surf is no good there is no charge to you and we can reschedule (callout fee is non refundable for Byron and Lennox). This fee can be divided by your mates or who ever wants photos. After each shoot we have up to 3000 images to sort through. We will email you some resized samples of the good images to choose from. You have the option to purchase all the high resolution shots on disc outright for $350, this can be divided by as many people in the shoot. This can be a great alternative for travellers, and those on vacation. If you do not want to purchase all the digital files you can select individual images to have enlarged onto canvas or photographic prints – we offer a full reprint service to have your images put onto large canvas or print for those special shots.
Are you planning to head out on a surf trip? We are able to photograph overseas boat trips and domestic/overseas land trips for you and your friends. There is nothing better than coming home from a surf trip with ALL of your best waves shot in high quality digital stills, you have 1000′s of magazine quality shots as keepsakes forever to remind you of that magic trip. Imagine having the best barrel of your life blown up and mounted on your wall to look at everytime you walk past it, on your desktop screensaver at work or home, or as a large canvas print – amazing! While some boat charters do offer a photo service, its roughly the same price to take us and the advantage is you get your whole trip documented!
It generally breaks down like this: If you are on a trip with a group who all want photos, it will cost the group the photographers airfare, taxes and basic accommodation while on land and his position on the boat, now that might sound like a lot but thats divided by however many of you are on the boat. If there are 10 people it usually only costs around $250 each. You will be able to view the days photo’s each night via a laptop on the boat. You have the option to purchase all the high resolution shots on disc outright, this can be divided by as many people as are on the boat. Or you can individually purchase the shots you want to keep.
